Ray is proud to share some of his students prestigious awards such as Grammy award, Major label contracts, X-Factor finalist, performing at Bamboozle Festival, composing for national commercials such as Ford, Chevron and many others, international tours and festivals and an almost endless list of honored accomplishments.
A brief list of some of Ray’s lil Frankensteins:
Studying with Ray has had a tremendous impact on my life - both in my proficiency and approach to the guitar, as well as in the appreciation and understanding of music in general. He taught me the critical importance of technique and method - of rigorous training with the metronome, of knowing how to decipher keys and build chords, and of being able to name the time-signature of a complex piece at the drop of a hat. These lessons stick with you. You learn to hear, create, interact with music differently. Whether in his studio instruction, or out at some killer live-music performance he would invite us to, he's an awesome teacher, and at this point, a longtime friend.
I always found Rays’ teaching methods to be no-pressure, but really personal and productive for fostering musical growth. Being in such an environment is vital in order to gain musicality and understanding. He is a great player, teacher, and friend!
After knowing Ray for many years, many creative ideas and concepts he brought forth helped evolve my playing. However beyond that, he is an honest individual that can guide you with positive inspiration about the things we seek in our lifetime. Music is a reflection of our inner landscapes and he can help you expand those landscapes to new depths.
In my time learning guitar from Ray Ippolito I not only gained the foundations of music theory and ear training but also an approach to being a working musician through the lens of positivity and passion for art. Ray is a model teacher who instills the importance of technique, practice, and a joy for creating.
I had the privilege of studying with Ray Ippolito both publicly and privately throughout my late teen years before working together and becoming friends and colleagues as an adult. The professionalism, ideals, and attitude that Ray instilled in me as a student certainly carried over to my career as a musician and Ray's no-nonsense, "music as a way of life" style of teaching has stayed with me throughout my musical life, both when I play and when I teach.
Ray is an outstanding teacher not only of music but of life. His passion and expertise is evident in every lesson and inspires his students to always reach for more.
